Optimal foot health is critical to your safety and the prevention of long-term complications related to chronic conditions. Yet many people never think about foot care until they are in a lot of pain and discomfort. This is unfortunate because, in most cases, foot pain is preventable and treatable. A certified foot care nurse can make a world of difference to your mobility and quality of life.
Your journey to foot health begins with a certified foot care nurse
At FIT Healthcare, we know that foot care is essential to your health, mobility, and well-being. Our medical foot care services are offered by our Registered Practical Nurse. Our Nurse is a licensed, regulated health care professional who has acquired advanced certification in medical foot care. Our Nurse is qualified to provide comprehensive assessments and treatments, educate patients, manage lower limb and foot problems, and provide outstanding medical foot care.
At FIT Healthcare, we follow standards of practice established by the College of Nurses of Ontario, Infection Prevention and Control Canada, and Public Health Ontario. Infection control is a top priority. Our infection control procedures are hospital grade. During your treatment, we only use professional, sterilized, podiatry equipment and medical-grade products to elevate your quality of care. We are passionate about your well-being, and believe foot care should be provided by a medical professional with updated knowledge to ensure your health and safety.
Foot Care treatments offered at FIT Healthcare:
During your initial assessment and treatment, we will focus on assessing and treating toenail and skin pathologies of the foot. We will take a full medical history and focus on the main concern that prompted the visit. We will check for adequate circulation, proper nerve function, signs and symptoms of infection, skin pathologies (e.g., callus, corns), and nail abnormalities (e.g., ingrown, thickened, or discolored nails). We will conduct a footwear inspection, provide a nursing diagnosis, and a personalized plan of care tailored to your needs.
Treatment involves hot towel service, followed by a gentle cleanse of the skin and nails. Our Nurse uses medical-grade cleansers, lotions, and nail oils during treatment. We provide proper trimming and filing of the nails, as well as, addressing any complaints of pain. This may include physical reduction of nails and thickened skin, and education on how to prevent complications or reoccurrence. We safely remove thickened calluses, reduce cracked heels, and painful corns down to normal skin. Healthy, properly trimmed nails and smooth supple skin on your feet reduce risks of infection and can significantly improve the quality of your life.
